Our permaculture site

Permoafrica Centre story

Picture
Picture
After Paul completed a Permaculture Design Certificate course in 2016 in Uganda, he returned home and founded the PermoAfrica Centre, in his local village.

Paul set about finding some land and visioned a demonstration site with a teaching space. He has been fortunate to able to use 2 acres of land donated by his grandfather!

Funding for the site has been from a crowdfunding campaign and from direct donations from people all around the world. Building of the teaching space started in December 2017 and was completed 3 months later by local builders.

The site is managed by Paul and the community management team. There are community gatherings about once a week.

Now, Paul's mission to bring permaculture knowledge & technology to his community and farming group is able to happen more easily. He has been helping to train community members so that they can feed their village and pass the skills on to the next generation. This is what this website is all about.

 the Building ON THE SITE

The green building is our main teaching space. It is essential for doing courses and providing a comfortable environment for learning. It is small, but we are very proud of it. Below are some photos featuring the building and the surrounds. You can see we have added a greenhouse which we collect rainwater off into the black tank.

flourishing garden

We have been developing the gardens on the site using various practical permaculture techniques. These demonstrate various possibilities applicable to the wider community. They demonstrate that polycultures can provide bountiful edibles and other yields grown in symbiosis with each other. We hope to inspire everyone to start growing more variety in their home gardens and farms. The slideshow below shows some of what we have been doing since 2017!
